Notice from the District:
Over the last few weeks, the District Office has been made aware of a number of spam emails which are circulating through our various churches and circuits. These emails, supposedly coming from ministers, lay workers and church volunteers are becoming much more sophisticated in the way they look and read, in many cases appearing to be genuine. We would urge you all, if you receive an email that indicates the sender is unable to make contact with you any other way but needs your help, to please contact the person via phone or send them an email (do not reply to the one you have received) to ensure that the suspect email did indeed come from them. Please do not click on any links, call any phone numbers or reply to messages if you are unsure. We would also recommend double checking the email address of the sender as you may spot some very subtle errors which will indicate that the email is spam.
The District's Safeguarding Officer will be making spam emails and staying safe online, the topic of the next Coffee with Claire. If you would like to attend, the links are:Coffee with Claire | Monday 20 May | 11am - 12pm.
In this session, we will discuss some common online scams and provide you with some precautions to help keep you safe. RSVP here and the Zoom link will be sent to you by return email.
